Yesterday, I was lucky enough to attend Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp which also served as a grand opening for their new state-of-the-art brewery located in Mills River, NC. The event was AMAZING! With over 100 breweries, 15 food trucks, and 5,000 fellow beer lovers - it was a little slice of heaven. It was EASILY the best beer festival I've ever been to!
I took two food breaks to try to soak up some of the tons of delicious beer that I was pouring down my gullet. First up was a food truck that was visiting from Decatur, GA - The Mobile Marlay, which specializes in fish 'n' chips. The line was long, but the service was quick. I ordered a Cod sandwich which came with french fries. The sandwich had tarter sauce and cheddar cheese. It was HOT and amazing! The fish was perfectly fried and crispy. The fries were pretty awesome, too! I wish I had come back to try the shrimp or lobster tacos. I will definitely have to look them up next time I am near Atlanta!
Next up was a pork hoagie from Pho Ya Belly. They were also very quick. I think the guy behind me was mad because I purchased the last one! All of the food trucks sold out of most of their food near the end of the day. The hoagie was SPICY - just the way I like it! Pork, topped with pickled veggies, and a creamy sauce; all tucked inside a crispy, yet chewy hoagie roll. Wondrous!
I also had the pleasure of running into the Godfather of Highland Brewing Company - Oscar Wong. I said, "Oscar, I just want to thank you for starting ALL of this." To which he responded, "It turned out pretty well, didn't it?" Yes it did ... yes it did...
